Staff & Lay Leadership

Rector: The Rev. Erika Meyer

I love to preach and lead worship. I love hymns and testimonies that open hearts to God’s movement in our lives. I love stopping to pray with people on the street or wherever we happen to be. I love the Kingdom of God and want the Church to be its demonstration garden plot.
In the rest of my life, I am a wife to my husband, Paul, an executive coach, a mom to Johan, a step-mom to Juli, (both in college) and a walker of Cinnamon. I am a public radio podcast junkie; and in my fantasy alternative universe, I am a radio talk show host interviewer and director of children’s theater.

What’s a deacon?
A deacon (from Greek, “diakonos” or servant) is one of three distinct orders of ordained ministers (bishops, priests, deacons) in the Episcopal Church. An individual becomes an Episcopal deacon by being ordained by a bishop after having completeda course of study and formation. Other denominations use the title for lay persons elected to responsible governing positions in their churches. Deacons in the Episcopal Church are visible reminders for all disciples of Jesus to serve those in need.  Deacons also have special duties in the Sunday Eucharist such as reading the Gospel, setting the altar, and dismissing the congregation.
